Under the “law of the land,”(Leviticus 25:10) we read, “And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land….and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man to his family.”
In my fiftieth year, on Good Friday, despised by many in 1975, by others, I needed mental help. How crazy is this? I purchased a 37 foot sloop in 1975 and set sail on the South Atlantic Ocean.
During my two years at sea, inexplicable events occurred. I left my sea experience convinced that God’s hand had been on my wheel.
I returned to my career in the lumber business, this time in Portland, Oregon, the lumber capital of the world, with my third wife.
In early May 1980, wife number three departed. I never saw her again. She divorced me. Two weeks after wife number three departed, wife number four appeared. I knew the moment we met that she was made for me. We insistently connected. I knew that Karen was the one and only love of my life. She didn’t know that. Karen had been married for 23 years and recently divorced. I knew something she didn’t know. I just wanted to make her life happy.
High interest rates killed my lumber career for the second time. I told Karen I was going back to Florida, buy a boat, and sail the South Atlantic Ocean. Imagine this! She went with me, all the way to Salt Lake City saying, “I don’t know why I’m doing this.” But once we went up the western slope of the Rockies, she was singing “the bear went over the mountain.” Perhaps Karen will never know that she was sent to me.
My life started the way it was meant to be with Karen’s appearance. Our lives have been diversified–and not always that good–but in the end, great!
Well, I was more or less kicked out of my old life. I looked within for my answers. Who advised me? Jesus. In Luke 17:21, Jesus: “The kingdom of God is within you.”
Time moves one. I’ve purchased a 39 foot motor home. We are going to sell our manufactured home in a manufactured home park. (We don’t own the land—a big mistake.) We are going to live in our motor home in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho in an RV Resort that has everything we want, unless or until something comes along to change that, in which case we will simply crank up our 350 H.P. diesel engine and move on down the road.
